Adonic / Adonis-like Selfshipping
Adonic can be a stand-alone label, or an adjective relating to another label such as selfship or yumeship. It refers to loving a character deeply (generally in a romantic sense), but not perceiving them as real. This term has been created due to a gap in other terminology— though umbrella terms, selfshipping and yumeshipping can, to some, feel like unserious terms, since shipping as a fandom activity can be quite different to how some selfshippers might feel. On the other end, terms like soulbond clearly involve perceiving your f/o or partner as real to some extent, and riako/gachikoi are deeply rooted in idol culture and parasocial relationships with real people. Maybe no one else needs this term, but at least it will be there for me.The reason I have labelled this experience as "Adonic" is twofold. One is his relationships with various Greek gods (including, but likely not limited to, Aphrodite, Persephone, Apollo, Dionysus, and Heracles), which can be likened to loving someone "on another plane," which feels appropriate for the love of a fictional character. The second reason is that to me, some labels strongly imply monogamy or a singular f/o, which isn't my experience, nor is it that of everyone else. In myth, Adonis' time is largely split between Persephone and Aphrodite, as well as some other encounters on the side. Naming this label in this way felt like a nice nod to those of us with multiple f/os and/or those who are polyamorous.Definitions

Whether to clarify for yourself or others, use this term as you see fit. Even if you don't fit the exact definition I have laid out here, it's not like I own the word! Do what feels right.
